how do you train?

We train regularly in key disciplines and in various locations in East and Central Texas once a month. This is to better prepare ourselves, our families and our members should any incidents or events occur.

The training is designed to enable the unit to come together in a quick time, and get to a safe area, while protecting our families, our members, and communities during times of crisis. We have members with many different skills, which allow for a wide variety of expertise in all areas of survivability. Many of our members are former law enforcement, military personnel, medical field specialists, and other areas that are critical to our group as a whole as well as the community and the great state of Texas. If you are interested in joining we encourage you to attend training. All we require is a background check (no cost to you). Please fill in our contact form and we will let you know when our next training is.

Weapon Systems

In the weapon community, there will always be a great debate on the better weapon and caliber. With that said, it needs to be understood, weapon commonality becomes an important issue when dealing with resupply. In the Lone Star Watchmen, we recommend AR-15 pattern rifles. Parts, magazines and ammunition are all very common. They are also the weapons of choice by our Military. Again, we do not require that our members only use these rifles. Bring what you have and serve. Side arms are also a matter of preference. But as before, resupply should be considered. You will find some units have chosen to standardize calibers or weapons. That is a decision reached among them. We will not mandate as a whole.

We recommend the multicam uniform. However, making sure your family is taken care of first should be your top priority. A uniform is not required to be a member or attend. We understand each of us has to work within the constraints of our own budget. Get the best that you can afford and start training with it. Knowledge and proficiency will be more effective than the latest and greatest high-tech gadget you don't know how to employ properly. We highly recommend you ask the other members of the group their opinions on equipment before you make any serious investments. There is a great deal of knowledge in the group and many of them have already tried something in the past. Remember different things work for different people.

what is my Rank?

Rank will not be automatically assigned. You will be evaluated during FTXs on your knowledge, skills, and ability to teach. Rank is earned by your ability to teach skills and share knowledge. Leadership is not something you are born with, but rather something that develops through trust and competence. Just showing up to training or giving the most money or supplies does not entitle you to rank or position.

Assignment to a leadership role isn’t a right to exercise power or authority over others capriciously. It is a charge to lead by your own example with the best interest of the entire group in mind. We don't have a rigid structure, rather we put the most qualified and knowledgeable person in any given field the lead in that area.

Application Fee and member dues

In order to keep our organization and it's members safe it is necessary for every member to pass a back ground check.  The cost for new member application is $15.00.

Lone Star Watchmen provides survival and tactical training that is unmatched. We provide monthly Field Training Exercises, classroom training and much more. Monthly Dues are $15.00 per month, per person.
